Dance Parents:
Please see the following information with all the information about the upcoming Holiday Show! Be sure to save this e-mail and read it in its entirety for everything you need to know for your dancer's Upcoming Show at the Phipps.
Dancers Should Arrive at the Following Times Below, According to the time of their Show: Doors to each show will open approximately 15 minutes before show time. Our Holiday Show location is at the Phipps Center for the Arts at 109 Locust Street, Hudson, WI 54016. Directions: Take 94 to Hudson Road and go north towards downtown Hudson and turn left on Locust Street. The theatre will be on your right. There is parking around the theatre and also across the street near the outdoor theatre.
1 PM Show - Arrive for Rehearsal 10:45 by am - rehearsal from 11:00 am-12:30 pm. Show will run from approximately 1:00 - 2:00 pm.
Notice: Our 2:30 rehearsal will be announced as a show, due to the fact that a few parents did not receive tickets to this show. 4 pm show dancers should arrive at 2:00 pm and be ready to go on at 2:30. (Lake Elmo Tuesday Competition Team will NOT perform here - they will get a break to eat and will perform at the 4 pm and 7 pm shows.). We will clear the theatre and start the next show at 4 pm. All dancers will be held backstage after the 2:30 show and 2:30 pm ticket holders should come back at approximately 5 pm to pick up their dancer.
Our 7 pm show dancers should arrive by 5:15 pm - Rehearsal will be from 5:30-6:30 pm and show will run from approximately 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
For ALL dancers:
Please be sure to write your name on your shoes, props, EVERYTHING so nothing gets lost, or if you do lose something, we can be sure to get it back to you! Do not Just put Initials! We need first initial and last name at a minimum as many of our dancers actually share the same initials.
Each Dancer Age 2-8 (not the age 8-12 classes) should bring a brown paper bag with their dancer's name largely written in marker on both front and back and parents cell phone # written on the bag in case we need to call you. When we do shoe changes, etc. it will help our volunteers in the back know where to go and which bag to look in . We have them lined up according to their line list and will match up each dancer's bag accordingly. Dancer's can put their personal dance bags inside these brown paper bags, but we do need the brown paper bags to keep things organized.
Parents will drop off students at the front door of the Phipps. Please be sure to take their coats and boots/shoes they arrive in with you. Have dancers put on their ballet shoes to start and we will put them in the appropriate foot wear backstage. Dancers can and should bring a light sweater in case they get cold. Volunteers will be on hand to take students back to the room they will be held in until they rehearse and go on for the show. Parents are not allowed backstage or in the theatre during dress rehearsal.
Young dancers should bring color crayons and color books, or small toys, dolls, anything to keep them occupied during the rehearsal and show downtime. They may also bring snacks (non messy snacks such as crackers (not gold fish please, they get orange all over their fingers) and bottled water or clear beverages only such as 7 up or Sprite. No juice or colored liquids. We don't want any spills on their beautiful costumes:)
All Dancers should wear their costumes and Suntan Tights - (Somerset Tuesday and Thursday and Lake Elmo Wednesday/teddy bear costumes/ have PINK tights). Dancers should be completely dressed and ready to go upon arrival to the theatre.
Pre K and age 6-8 classes need their ballet and tap shoes (not jazz shoes)
All older classes need their jazz shoes. (Lake Elmo Teen Dancers also need their lyrical shoes).
Hair for each class will be as follows:
Pre K and age 6-8 - High Bun (if you aren't sure how to create one, Google - how to make a high ballerina bun and you will find several instructional sights)
Age 8-12 - High Messy Bun - (you can also google this)
Comp Team - Tuesday Night - High Pony Tail
Comp Team Thursday Night - Low Side Bun with Flowers
Comp Team Wednesday Night - High Pony (we will look into hair pieces)
Comp Team Teen Class - Low Side Bun
Lake Elmo Teen Class - High Messy Bun
The following classes also need to bring their props:
Somerset Monday Night Pre K - Cowboy Hats and Aprons/Chef Hats
Lake Elmo - Wednesday Age 4-5 - Cowboy Hats
Lake Elmo Thursday - Poms
If you are missing any part of your costume, please let us know right away.
It is imperative that because our shows are so tight - that ONE parent come right after the show is over and pick up their dancer backstage - we will tell you at the show - where to go to find them. Parents should pick up all of their costume and accessory pieces backstage - as the next show will be beginning shortly thereafter and the announcer will ask you to clear the theatre for quick clean up and prep before the next show starts. Thank you for your cooperation!
Make Up is Optional for Recreational Dancers. Make up is Mandatory for Comp Dancers.
We are offering a get together for ALL Competition Dancers and Lake Elmo Teen Dancers (who would like to volunteer that day at the show) at Hudson Bagel and Coffee Shop - 800 Carmichael Road, Hudson, WI 54016. Phone (715) 377-0965. Teen dancers need to be there from 7-9 am and all other dancers from 8-9 am. Instructors and Teen dancers will be on hand to put on make up for dancers. Comp dancers please remember to bring your make up kit, eyelashes and eyelash glue. If you don't want to attend the breakfast, I will give a tutorial for each class in the next weeks. Comp Dancers and volunteer teens are welcome to head with us right to the theatre afterwards if they would like so they don't have to come back later.
We are always looking for volunteers for our shows! If you would like to volunteer, please contact us! If you already bought your show tickets, we can give you a credit on your account for doing so!
If you haven't ordered a DVD for the show yet, be sure to do so right away!! The DVD company charges more after the show date! Please note that the Videographer owns the copyrights to the Videotaping of all of our shows, therefore, no personal videotaping is allowed at any of our shows. (They will ask you to turn off your recorder if they see one - even if it's a phone recorder). (BTW, If you are new to dance, this is the case for every dance company production that I have ever been involved in). Thanks in advance for cooperating! The link to order your video is www.thecamerasevevideo.com/pliedance.
Please Note: On December 10th, dancer's whose accounts are delinquent will be placed on a non performing list. Accounts must be paid up through December if you would like to have your dancer participate in our Holiday Show. We never want a dancer to have to miss out at our shows due to non-payment so if your account is past due, please contact us right away to discuss. You should have been or will be notified if your dancer's account is past due. After December 10th, delinquent accounts will need to be paid with cash or money order.
